4 Amazingly Fun Things to Do with Kids during Winter Holidays

It's all too easy to start hibernating in the colder months and stay at home, but there's no need when the Peak District and Derbyshire have plenty of days out and activities to offer to the locals, from cosy tours in a flea markets, 4x4 to snowboarding, and family fun.

Bolsover and Pevril Castle are both open on weekends during the winter. The mesmerising views from the Castle of Pevril across to the the Hope Valley and the Castleton village and are always worth a visit. Bolsover Castle also has spectacular views, and the 17th-century castle is a fascinating place to explore both inside and outside the grounds.

Swadlincote Ski & Snowboard Centre:

Whether you want to get some practise in for a snowboarding or ski holiday or you just want to have some fun on the slopes, there's plenty to do here with ski, board, tobogganing, and tubing facilities. There are also lessons available if you are a complete beginner looking for a New Year challenge. It's about a 1.5-hour drive from Buxton, so it's easy to get there by taking the A515 towards Sudbury.

Find vintage treasures at Chesterfield Flea Market:

Every Thursday, Chesterfield hosts its prominent flea market, which features over hundred and fifty stalls. You can browse obscure and antiques vintage items from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there are plenty of cafes right on the street corner in and around the market area if you need to warm up from the cold.

Denby Pottery Village:

Shop, eat, and discover! Whether you have a few hours or a full day, the Pottery Village has a wealth of family-friendly activities for people of all ages. It's a perfect day out on a chilly day because there's plenty to do here and you can enjoy a tasty lunch in bistros or cafes or, for a special brunch. They have 'play with clay' sessions at their Craft Studio which appears to be a lot of fun. Of course, there is also fantastic shopping at the Cookshop and Denby Factory Shop.
